I gathered up Gavin and his cousin Samantha and my mom and I drove into the city for a quick jaunt to the World Famous Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. I love being able to do this. I am getting braver, with experience, at being ‘the person in charge’ of an NYC visit. An empty Saturday morning was a good time to practice my city driving 😉
Madame Tussaud’s has a deal with an ICON/Global Parking Garage at 143 W. 40th Street for $16 for 12 hours (as long as you get your parking ticket validated at the museum) – a great price for NYC parking. I may have even been able to get street parking – but I forgot to even try.
I’ve wanted to see this museum and introduce Sam & Gavin to it for quite sometime. MIkey could not even comprehend why we wanted to go and see ‘fake people’ 🙂 It is such an iconic place, and Madame Tussaud herself was related to rich history and unique artistic expression.
It was fascinating and kind of weird – which is a good thing!
I was very impressed with how many historical figures and pop culture icons that Sam & Gavin could identify on sight! It was really interesting how you get to be a statue in the museum – it includes a 2 hour ‘sitting’, computer eye matching and a clothing donation. There is a brief video about the construction of a wax statue and some ‘tools of the trade’ on display.
I am so glad we went. I almost always say that about NYC, though 🙂
