Rigging an easier way for the little kids

And then this happened.

3 Generations of Costello men – and a photo bomb from our little neighbor 🙂

Silverball Pinball Museum

With Summer ‘unofficially’ here (official in my house!), I wanted to let you know about a neat little nook on the Jersey shore. It’s right on the boards in Asbury Park.

Silverball Pinball Museum is a classic arcade game/pinball ‘museum’. You can play all of the games without coins or tokens with the price of admission. You’ll find games you played as a kid and it’s a great way to show your kids more pixels than they’ve ever seen in their hi-def lives 🙂

There are so many good things about playing pinball and video games and at Silverball, one of them is that it gets you to the beach – and that’s always good.

We happened to visit Silverball on the heels of Gavin and I having just finished ‘Ready Player One‘ by Ernest Cline. If you are inclined to share some great 80s pop culture and an epic, MMO/RPG-based adventure with your teen, it was a cool book 🙂 After you visit here, go here.

Weekend Scenes

This is the ‘Sean’s-first-scrimmage~hockey championships~Asbury Park~knife throwing~pool swimming’ episode of Weekend Scenes.

Life is not perfect, but perspective helps. This is good living 🙂

Cotsen Children’s Library

Someone tipped me off to Cotsen Children’s Library by telling me that she read my blog and knew a place I should take the kids. I love hearing both things 😉 It is on the dreamy campus of Princeton University and any trip that gets you more of Princeton is a very good thing.

DSC00992 DSC00991The Library boasts rare collections and very special children’s books. They have ancient toys on display and it is a quiet and magical place. The bookshelves, meant for children, are stocked with classics and beloved books.

Mikey put on a puppet show for Sean and another little girl. I read them Zathura and they perused many of their favorites. Cuter reading nooks, you just don’t find.

a kind of library.”

Swartswood State Park

We did not spend Memorial Day at the beach (oh the horror!), but at one of NJ’s beautiful State Parks. If you don’t visit the parks – start now 🙂 We planned on visiting Hopatcong State Park, but were turned away due to the park being full. Thanks to our smartphone connectivity and good advice from a park ranger we ended up in Swartswood State Park.

It was our first visit, it was very nice and we will return in the future. We’ve even scoped out the picnic grove we’d like to utilize – a shaded spot near the beach and the play park. I think we will have a BBQ on the outdoor grills provided at each spot. You should too.

No matter where you are, look up your state parks and add them to your Summer Bucket List. Please tell me you have one?! 😉
